Blah, I have to lug a synthesizer and a bunch of other crap to our practice space on Ludlow tonight. Not that I am complaining, but I am complaining. This had better pay off in like a Grammy or something.
It occurs to me I am a warez packrat. Like why do I have a cracked copy of Oracle 8? Also countless games I will never play. Sometimes I think the original binary sequence of these hacked copies, by groups such as Hybrid and Razor1911, will be worth something someday, so I keep them around. I think I am the only person with this belief.
Those new Apple laptops are looking pretty sweet, but I have not saved enough dough yet. Plus if I spend what I do have on a down payment, I don't get to go on vacation like I am planning in November. Of course I can't decide where to go anyway, so it doesn't matter. Puerto Rico? Fiji? Florida Keys? Blah, non-committalness. I need a vacation so bad, I can't even dredge up the energy to decide where to go on my vacation.
Wow, I just downloaded a trial copy of Steinberg Wizoo XPhraze, it is pretty swank as virtual instruments go.
For example,
was made in about 30 seconds (the time it took to load the program and play a descending C7 scale).
Whoa.
Aaagh, once again I am buried up to my ears in work on the weekend! I am trying to migrate a Microsoft Access 97 database back-end to SQL Server 2000... So far it has taken me 3 weeks- much longer than the "couple of days" I originally told my boss... Hence the added pressure, hence my slaving away on a Saturday.
Can anyone help me get an ODBC link working using the "Trusted Connection" option to an SQL Server 2000 installation on an NT 4.0 machine which *is not part of a domain*?
I DIDN'T THINK SO! Help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
I need a vacation!
Okay, that is over. Back to work.

Attention ladies, Arctic Square has a new drummer, Robin (shown here at Square One studios)... You have been warned!

Okay, this is crazy, and I am supposed to be working right now, but I just had to state;
Arctic Square will be performing October 23rd at Luna Lounge at 1am.
Are you ready for the insane part yet? New York indie-rock darlings The Wrens are on immediately before us.
You read that right; The Wrens are opening for Arctic Square!
Okay, okay... Trying to calm down... Let's think about it this way; actually the 1am slot is the "clear the room with the unknown band so we can close up" slot... Right? Please tell me I am right so the nervous heart palpitations do not actually kill me. I mean I do not even have a grip on the changes for half our live set yet...
Ohhh, the pressure...! This could be a nice boost for Arctic Square, but it is quite unexpected.
To Do List;
-Get copy of chord changes from Graham
-Make a bunch of copies of our demo to distribute at the gig
-Obtain a distortion pedal
-Practice until fingers are numb
-Collect enormous royalties for airplay...
Wait, I may've skipped a step there.

Finally, today I am a 5. That's out of 7 possible. Considering a year ago I was still a 3, I am quite proud of this achievement.
To become a 6 I will have to practice at least once a week, don't know if that will happen considering I just feel so busy lately. A good 6 will run the table out once in a while, and I still can't do that... At least not on these big tables (tiny New Orleans bar tables not included!). Not that I am actually busy by any objective measure, but I just feel that way with band practice, pool league night, and trying desperately to actually practice some of the Jazz fundamentals stuff for my weekend lessons. Then there are the duties of trying to maintain an actual social network of friends, which is hard work as it turns out, I am not used to it. But it keeps me from retreating into a hermit-like shell and that is a good thing.
I would like to take a moment to register my opinion that the housing market in the United States will crash within the next 22 months.
Read "The Housing Market" here, and also read this if you are interested.
Will this mean I can save a few bucks on an apartment in Manhattan in two years? I know, nobody cares...
