Chomsky for Thought

| | Comments (1)

Ooh, nice juicy Noam Chomsky interview here.

I enjoy most of Chomsky's stuff, but that interview is particularly tasty. I rely on this man to get me thinking, but his sly jabs at historical and contemporary political figures are probably the most fun.

Geek Me

God I enjoy stuff like this. Pages upon pages of vaguely underground technical briefs, especially anything mentioning assembly language, get me excited.

Hmm, this is interesting. Certainly not what I would call musical, but it is there anyway;

Hmm, well I am not particularly happy with tonight's solo musical effort, but I am also not one to disappoint my fans by not sharing.

So;

How High the Moon.

Don't miss the creepy 'Round Midnight from yesterday, it is sorta ghosty.

What be this picture about, then?

Click here if ye be curious.

The event is from a while ago. I am not criticizing. Actually I think it is neat.

Give it to me!

Grab (grizzab?) 'Round Midnight, first and so far only release from Document Two, the experimental Jazz spinoff project by one member of Arctic Square, namely me.

Check the neat fx - Propellerhead's Reason 2.0 is great!

Baaaaaaaaad Film...

Jungle2Jungle.jpegWhat's the worst movie you have ever seen?

Right now I am thinking it's probably Jungle 2 Jungle.

I think you have to be in a special situation to actually go SEE a bad movie, because usually you know in advance if something like Battlefield Earth or From Justin to Kelly is just going to stink, so you just avoid it.

So, your date dragged you, there was nothing else playing and you just had to kill some time, you thought Booty Call was a documentary about the telephone system in a French colony in Africa, etc...

So far, J2J is the most excruciatingly hideous thing I have ever put up with (inside or arguably outside the theatre), and it was both a date and a killing-some-time thing, otherwise I woulda walked out. Tim Allen's indisputable vileness aside, something about the expression on that kid's face makes me want to drive a nail through it... with one of these...

It turns out those pleasant folks I saw on the subway the other day are part of the Coney Island Circus Sideshow...

And Eak the Geek!

I'm kinda sorry I missed Serpentina, though... May have to go check out that show yet!

Economics Update

Dean Baker is my favorite economist. A lot of folks seem to enjoy Paul Krugman, but I don't get the Times so I have to go with my main man Dean. Everyone should subscribe to his Economic Reporting Review weekly email newsletter, it is so interesting and informative.

Anyway, if you were thinking about buying a new house due to the tasty interest rates, read this article from August of last year. The long and short of it is that housing prices are about to plummet, with economic consequences similar to or greater than the crash of the recent stock market bubble.

If anyone has data like this available which is specific to the New York City area, please share, as I would find it quite entertaining.

You know what is great?

Proxomitron Help Screen.jpgYou know what is great? Not having to look at Popup ads while browsing about.

I have been using this freebie little program for about a year now, and I have to say it has made the web truly enjoyable.

I can't seem to locate the "official" website for Proxomitron any more (all links seem to have been replaced by very cryptic-seeming Chinese characters), so the link above is untested and possibly virus-ridden! Have fun!

Tattooed Lady

These two were having a rather mudane conversation on the subject of salad dressing. They both had tattoos everywhere, the girl spoke with a lisp due to numerous lip piercings. "I can't wait to make that salad dressing..." I am fairly certain they were coming from Coney Island after a hard day's work, entertaining the masses down on the boardwalk. I can see how a wholesome salad would seem like a safe haven after such arduous work... I hope they enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed hearing about it...

Amazingly, I spotted Dorothy of CatandGirl.com yesterday on the street while strolling about with Graham during a break in our Arctic Squaring...

Less surprisingly, I made a complete idiot of myself stopping her in front of oncoming traffic and insisting she identify herself...

Yay, it was her!
